VOICEMAN BULLETIN – YEAR OF THE SNAKE
Looking back over this year so far, China, more specifically China Central Television(CCTV), has become my biggest client in terms of volume and regularity of work. It’s been full speed ahead all summer long recording some wonderful Chinese documentaries. A myriad of entertaining programs and series, often with unusual or exotic titles : Antarctic Dream, New Youth, Ancient Dove Tree, Treasure from the Lost Dynasty and Secrets of the People’s Republic of China. These are just a small sample of the varied and interesting programs we’ve recorded.
It’s fantastic working with the Chinese and I’ve learned so much about their culture, shaped by over 3000 years of history, a real treasure trove of world knowledge. Master Chingshui, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, ancient ways of making pottery and paper, agriculture, wildlife, ancient fishing cultures and archeological Echoes of the Bronze Drums are just a taste of the huge range of subjects covered.
CCTV, with a multitude of channels, is extremely popular with programs viewed all over China and across the world. Their brand new headquarters in Beijing is spectacular and symbolizes their success!

In the voice over business clients and projects come and go with the majority short lived, but long may this affiliation with China, CCTV and Golden Bamboo continue! At the beginning of our working relationship, John from Golden Bamboo said to my agent in China that I should view their documentary work more like a full time job than a series of individual voice over sessions. Well, he wasn’t kidding and has certainly been true to his word! Good news then that the Year of the Snake is a positive sign, with energy that can help us face all of the challenges ahead.
